companies and LLPs you can look up for nothing
- Legal name
- CIN or LLPIN
- Status
- Date of incorporation
- State
MCA company master data, published on data.gov.in.
This is more useful than it sounds. Status alone answers the question most people actually
have: is this company real, and is it still alive? A
company whose status reads Strike Off has been removed from the register and no
longer legally exists, however current its website looks.
The CIN carries more still. It encodes the listing status, the industry, the state, the
year of incorporation and the company type — so a single identifier tells you roughly what
you are dealing with before you open a single document.
What the free tier cannot tell you is money. Revenue, profit, shareholding and borrowings
live in the filings themselves, which is what the paid retrieval is for.
