What these figures can tell you
Figures come from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs' company register as on 6 August 2026. They count companies and limited liability partnerships still on that register, whatever their recorded status.
The Ministry's industrial classifications are broad. “Business Services”, for example, covers many activities; a registration in that group does not establish what the company does today.
For all classifications, a state's share is measured against the national total for the chosen entity type. When you choose a classification, its share is measured against that state's total for the same entity type.
5,505 entities do not have a usable registered state and cannot be placed on this map or in its table. The table includes states and union territories with small counts, even when they do not have their own page on this site.
Boundaries show present administrative areas. Older filings for Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu are counted together under the current union territory. Read map shapes as a guide and the registered-state table as the count record.
