Questions people actually ask

If something here is not covered, write to us — the answer usually belongs on this page.

Where do the answers come from?

India’s companies register. The free lookup uses MCA company master data published on data.gov.in. The filings come from the MCA’s own View Public Documents service, which sells a company’s public documents to anyone who pays the fee. Nothing is scraped from another company’s database.

What can I see without paying anything?

Legal name, CIN or LLPIN, current status, date of incorporation and state, for every registered company and LLP in India. That is enough to establish whether a company exists, when it started, and whether it is still alive.

Can I really find out what a private company earns?

Yes, within limits worth understanding. Indian companies file audited financial statements with the registrar, and those filings are public. So revenue and profit are obtainable for most companies — but they arrive months after the year they describe, and a company in default may not have filed at all.

Is this legal?

These are public records the MCA sells to anyone who asks, and we pay the prescribed fee through the registry’s own payment channel. What we automate is the clicking, not the entitlement.

How long does an order take?

Retrieval is minutes per company. The variable is MCA’s own payment reconciliation, which the registry allows itself up to 48 hours to complete. Your order waits in a reconciling state and the order page shows exactly which stage it is at.

Do you have an API?

Not a public one yet. Structured extraction and programmatic access are what we are building next; tell us what you would call and it will shape what we ship.

Can I sign up myself?

The free lookup needs no account. Ordering filings is invitation-only for now — get in touch and we will set you up.

What happens if a retrieval fails?

Server-side failures from the registry are treated as retryable, never as an empty result. Retrieval resumes from the last completed batch, and an order only reports success once every file has been extracted and validated.
